MrBeast Delightfully Overtakes T-Series for Most YouTube Subscribers

Date:

MrBeast has become the top YouTube channel, surpassing T-Series in a long competition for the most subscribers.

For five years, the Indian music label T-Series, known for its trailers and music videos, held the record as the largest YouTube channel. However, that changed on Sunday when MrBeast took the lead.

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, already had the most followers as an individual. Now, at 26 years old, he has made history on YouTube with an impressive 269 million subscribers. He left the T-Series behind and stood out far above all other channels.

MrBeast Surpasses T-Series

MrBeast is well-known for his huge stunts in almost 800 videos. These include giving away private islands, being buried alive, and making a real-life version of the popular Netflix show Squid Game.

On a platform called X, MrBeast announced that he had finally “avenged” another YouTube star named Felix Kjellberg, also known as PewDiePie. He did this by getting more subscribers than T-Series, which had 266 million.

In another post, MrBeast mentioned that his channel had its biggest jump in subscribers ever. On a Saturday, more than 2 million people subscribed to his channel in just one day.

T-Series had set the subscriber record in 2019 when it passed PewDiePie. PewDiePie joked about this in a music video, saying it only happened because a big company with lots of Bollywood songs got involved.

Now, MrBeast being the most subscribed person and channel on YouTube means he has even more control and money on the platform.

MrBeast: YouTube’s Generous Star

MrBeast has many other channels where he plays games, does good deeds, and reacts to other videos. Each of these channels has tens of millions of subscribers.

The description on his main channel says, “Don’t email me asking for money. I give away money because it makes me happy.” This refers to the millions of dollars he has given away during his time on YouTube.

In one video from April, he gave $250,000 (£196,000) to one lucky person.

Forbes estimated his wealth to be around $500 million in 2022 and ranked him first among the top 50 creators in 2023.

Elon Musk, who has encouraged MrBeast and other creators to post on his platform X (formerly Twitter), was one of the people who congratulated him.

Mr. Musk wants to make X more attractive to creators to make the platform profitable. In January, MrBeast said he made $250,000 from his first video on X.

MrBeast breaking the record is good news for Amazon, which has signed him to a TV deal reportedly worth up to $100 million.
